Histon Hornets annual 5-aside tournament will be held across three sessions on the weekend of 4th and 5th July but as you may already be aware our venue is installing a new 3G pitch which means space and 5-a-side pitches will be reduced so unfortunately our 2026 tournament will be limited to Girls U8-U11, Mixed U7-U12's.  We hope to be able to host a disability and older age group tournament later in the summer when the 3g pitch is completed.

  • U7 & U8 non-competitive; maximum squad size 10 players; all participants receive a medal
  • U9 and above competitive group stages and knock-out; maximum squad size 8 players
  • Age groups for 2025/2026 season apply

  • No academies, EJA or JPL teams
  • Entry fee per team - £42.50
  • Cambridgeshire FA stipulate that all participating teams must be affiliated for the 2026-27 season. Please ensure that your club secretary has completed your affiliation for next season before the 4th July 2026.

Histon Hornets annual 5-aside football tournament will be held over the weekend of Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2026. It is one of the largest grassroots football tournaments in East Anglia and last year over 190 teams participated, with more than 500 five-aside games played across 13 pitches and 2 days. Over the course of the tournament, over 1500 youth players joined us, with their friends, families and football coaches, all making for a busy and fun weekend.


The tournament is run entirely by the club volunteers who work hard to make it a memorable day for everyone. To help support the running of the club, and to continue to provide football for as many young people as possible within our community, we raise funds through tournament entry fees and event sponsorship.

No refunds will be made for cancellations.

Histon Hornets reserve the right to refuse entry, at which point a full refund will be given

Histon Hornets reserve the right to change or merge age groups depending on the number of entrants, but will notify all entrants beforehand if this occurs, and offer a refund for those not wishing to participate in a merged age group.

By registering to participate I agree to accept all playing rules and conditions as defined by the tournament organisers.

Over the years the tournament has steadily grown and last year 175 teams participated, spread over two sessions and 18 pitches, turning the tournament into one of the largest single day tournaments around. Teams travel from Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire to take part.

On the day there will be a tuck-shop, BBQ, ice cream, raffles, etc….all to make this a great day out for all the family.

NOTE: If you wish to enter two teams in the same age bracket, you will need to check out and then complete a second transaction. This is a software limitation that is not under the control of Histon Hornets!
