I have been with Histon Hornets Football Club Since 2010 having previously taken a yeargroup from u8 to u18s and have recently taken over Carolines U13 White team.

Our football philosophy is very much about playing positive football. If you want to define it:- We like to play attacking creative football but always with a tactical discipline. The template for all of our hard work is our fantastic organisation.

The team work on four phases of the game. They work on opening up the pitch and build-up (Play) through the team; so our construction from behind, we look to phase of creating opportunities and taking those opportunities. They then look at two phases of transition, which is very important to the way they play

Caroline previously manageed this squad and got involved in grassroots football when my son joined the Hornets at under-7s. The team was in need of an extra assistant, and initially I set out along that path. Deciding that I enjoyed being part of the club, and wanting to be more involved in the training, I took my FA level 1 course and am now a qualified coach. I manage the team, and run training sessions jointly with my fellow coach, Aaron.

Caroline became the clubs Chairperson for the 24_25 season so has stepped down as maanger of this team to help the club continue to grow its grassroots football in the local community.

Aaron Langley - U10 White Coach.

On Tuesday 16th June, in a brief gap in the thundery showers, the Histon Hornets U8 Whites football team held an outdoor, socially-distant, end-of-season trophy presentation. The circumstances were definitely very different to our usual annual celebration, with sterile gloves, Dettol and hand-sanitiser featuring prominently. The team did their parents and coaches proud, by remaining in their six-person groups, sticking to the 2m distance, and standing patiently on their allocated spots while trophies were placed a further 2m from them to be picked up later.

All the players received medals and certificates to mark the end of the season, and additional trophies were awarded for Players' Player (number 18), Supporters' Player (number 19), Managers' Player (number 20) and Golden Boot (number 16), but every single player deserved recognition and reward. We were delighted by how evenly the voting in each category was split - a true reflection on the fact that every member of the team made a massive contribution to our season, and that it was teamwork as much as individual effort that made us so strong. We had a brilliant under-8 season, our last at 5-aside, with every member of the team working hard and improving, and every player enjoying their football. We were all sad to have missed the final couple of matches of the season, not to mention the tournaments we'd signed up for, but we're carefully planning our return to training and looking forward to a chance to play football again as we move up to under-9.
